Free Tool · ListProof

Does your best-of list deserve to rank?

Paste a roundup URL or draft. ListProof grades it the way the pages that actually win "best [tool]" queries are built: authority, formatting, disclosure and association. Then it hands you paste-ready fixes. Runs in your browser. Nothing is stored.

This is a fast, automated read against the standard that ranks and gets cited in AI answers. It flags what’s missing and writes starter fixes. It does not verify your facts, rewrite the page, build the table and schema, or measure the off-page authority that drives AI recommendations. See what it does and doesn’t do below.

Done-for-you listicle upgrade

ListProof finds the gaps. We close them.

Free tells you what’s missing. Our service does the rest. We add the author and methodology signals, write the disclosure and TL;DR, build the comparison table and FAQ, generate the schema, and rewrite each entry so the page reads like the reference, not the advert, then hand it back ready to ship.

  • Author, dates and a real methodology added
  • Transparent disclosure and a TL;DR box written
  • Comparison table, FAQ and per-tool template built
  • Article, FAQPage and ItemList schema generated
  • Each entry rewritten balanced and citable

Honest about the limits

A diagnosis, not a rewrite.

ListProof runs in your browser and reads only the page or text you give it. Here’s where the line sits.

The free tool does

  • Grades the list across four levers that decide who ranks and gets cited
  • Checks author, dates and whether you state a methodology
  • Flags a missing TL;DR, comparison table, FAQ and schema
  • Flags force-ranking yourself #1, fake “objective test” claims and missing disclosure
  • Checks citations, honest competitor treatment, and generic filler vs real detail
  • Writes starter blocks: byline, disclosure, TL;DR, methodology and schema

It deliberately does not

  • Verify your stats, prices or claims against primary sources
  • Write the full, tailored copy for every entry
  • Build the comparison table or interactive embed
  • Research and rank the tools for you
  • Measure your off-page authority (links, brand mentions) — what drives AI recommendations
  • Implement the schema or publish the changes
  • Rewrite the page so it ships clean
  • Guarantee your brand gets recommended (not just cited) in AI answers

Common questions

About ListProof.

What kind of pages is this for?

Roundups and comparisons: “best [tools]”, “top N [software]”, “[X] vs [Y]”, buyer’s guides. ListProof scores the things that separate the listicles that win those queries from the ones that don’t, then writes you the missing pieces to paste in.

What are the four levers it grades?

Authority (author, dates, a stated method), Formatting (TL;DR box, comparison table, FAQ, schema, a consistent per-tool template), Disclosure (if you rank your own product, do you say so), and Association (citing primary sources, linking out, and giving competitors honest treatment). Both classic search and AI answers reward the same signals.

What’s the difference between paste mode and URL mode?

Paste mode grades the copy: structure, disclosure, balance, and the trust signals in the words. URL mode grades the whole page, because the comparison table, schema, author byline and outbound links only exist in the live HTML. For the full grade, use a URL.

Does getting cited mean my brand gets recommended?

No — and that gap is the point. Recent research on B2B “best” queries found that when a brand’s own listicle got cited in Google’s AI, the brand was left out of the actual recommendation around 69% of the time, with the recommendation going to the established names it listed. Citations track how well the page is built; recommendations track off-page authority — how much of the web mentions and links to you. ListProof grades the first; only real-world authority moves the second.

Should I rank my own product #1 in my list?

Be careful. Force-ranking yourself #1, especially with a “we tested everything, we’re objectively the best” framing, increasingly gets you cited but not recommended, and can act as a vote for the competitors you name. The durable approach that both Lily Ray and Grow & Convert land on: don’t force-rank or claim “the best,” discuss your product first but honestly (“we built it for X; if it’s not your fit, here are alternatives”), and make the page genuinely detailed and useful.

Why does honesty and disclosure matter so much?

The pages that hold up rank their own product honestly and say so out loud. Hiding it, or pretending an objective test you didn’t run, reads promotional to a quality rater and to AI — and Google has started adding “self-proclaimed” disclaimers to AI answers for spammy “best” categories. If ListProof spots your brand in your own list, it flags the framing and writes you an honest intro.

Is my content stored anywhere?

No. The analysis runs in your browser. When you check a URL, our server fetches that page once to hand the text and tags back to your browser, and nothing is logged or saved.

How does this relate to your other free tools?

ListProof is the specialist for roundups and comparison pages. For any page, the Page Readiness Grader gives the broad read, the AI Content Fact Checker screens every claim, and the AI Citation Grader scores passages. Start here when the page is a best-of list.

What’s the paid version?

A done-for-you listicle upgrade. We add the authority signals, write the disclosure and TL;DR, build the comparison table, FAQ and schema, and rewrite each entry so the page reads like the reference. Send a URL or draft through the form above to get started.
